Learning new skills . My turbo broke a couple of w Learning new skills . My turbo broke a couple of weeks into lockdown 😫 Luckily, my friend @_ekynoxe was on hand to lend me a set of rollers 🙌 . The issue was that I had to learn how to ride them!! . Rollers are all about balance & as balance is a skill - & skills are learnt through repetition - all I had to do was expose myself to enough repetition to learn the skill. . The same principle applies to simple balance tasks such as standing on one leg. So often patients tell me that they’re rubbish at standing on one leg, as if it’s an innate ability. It’ll be a challenge, & you will fail a few times, but consistent practice will see you through. . Whether the task is simple or complex, consistent practice is the key to learning a skill. . Match your trunk and shin angles💪 • Love the Match your trunk and shin angles💪 • Love the front foot elevated split squat for developing good hip dominant triple flexion patterns. A common mistake with this movement - as well as normal split squats & lunges - is not matching trunk and shin angles. Doing so gives maximum allowable hip flexion, helping us to develop movement patterns with higher dynamic correspondence. • The cue I gave @danbeaven17 was to hinge the hip first - this is really evident in his second rep - and is a good way to drill the movement.
